Ivan Hewett meets the A-list gardener Chris Beardshaw and also the 17-year-old composer Lauren Marshall  who are taking the next week Flower Show in a new leadership  

Usic and gardening — in every other regard, although two arts that give joy seem poles apart. One steps time out hurries to being in a particular moment and leaves no hint. The other can be earthy and strong as music is evanescent, and moves in the wheeling of those seasons or the slow pace of the growth of a leaf. A garden could offer a setting for music — and frequently did, in the 18th century’s Pleasure Gardens. However, the concept that a garden may be musical, or that music could fit the contours of a garden, seems a non-starter.

Not so, as it ends. A garden created with this year’s Chelsea Flower Show proves one can be really fused into by both art forms. This year old Morgan Stanley Garden…
